New England Wild Logo Design

The Problem

I was tasked with creating a logo for a new Spring/Summer hockey team skating out of Enfield Twin Rinks. With a customer base consisting of Connecticut and Massachusetts residents, we decided to call the team New England Wild. Talking with my managers, we wanted to replicate a style of the Minnesota Wild logo, while still using our own unique design.

The Process

I first researched about the typefaces that were used in the Minnesota Wild logo. With the Minnesota Wild font being a custom font, I found two similar fonts that would aesthetically match well together. The first font is Lebbad Script and the other is Etna. The two fonts combine the free-flowing style of the final design.

I then researched an animal that we could use in the design. Wanting to keep the name of “Wild”, we needed an animal that was both friendly and showed strength and grit. The Minnesota Wild logo just represents a wild animal but we wanted to focus down and use a bear.

After deciding on a concept for the design, I did some color research. Wanting to keep it within the branding of the rink, we decided to use the blues out of the Enfield Twin Rinks logo and accompany it with grey to enhance the overall design and look.

The Solution

I created a logo that both digitally and physically will represent the New England Wild Spring/Summer teams. The use of the curved banner below the bear in the design is to match the style similar to the Minnesota Wild. The logo will be used across all promotional marketing for the New England Wild teams and will be used on all jerseys for the summer.

The Impact

My work creates an impact because it is a team that is both representing the Enfield community but a team that youth hockey players are striving to be on and enjoy being on. I can remember getting my team jerseys for the first time and being so excited to see the design of it. TThe excitement of a new team creates a big impact at the rink and gains lots of attention from players wanting to join.
