4 Athletes That Have Great Social Media Presence
With the increase and recent rule changes allowing college athletes to monetize off their name, image, and likeness, social media presence has become essential in the growth of their presence. Athletes are great examples of great uses of social media. They combine their lives and careers and create a space for fans to be entertained but also allowing them to grow their brand. Below are 4 examples of athletes that have great social media presence.
Lebron James
While this is quite an obvious one, James is one of the most influential athletes in the game today. While James loves to bring in humor to his account with memes like “Taco Tuesday”, his primary focus is on growing the community of basketball and inspiring young athletes. As Cameron Dasilva says in 12 athletes who are must follows on social media platforms “He’s seemingly always helping others through some sort of charity, combating the hunger crisis and setting up kids for success through his Promise School.” With his recent opening of a day school, his focus is creating a safe and healthy environment for young athletes to grow beyond their sport.
Alexa Hendricks
Alexa Hendricks is a division 1 volleyball player from Kentucky. With a very successful career at Kentucky, she has inspired many young athletes to continue playing the game. On her social media she primarily highlighted her days at college and would provide tips to incoming and current students. Her inspiration has inspired athletes to pursue athletics in college and allows them to have a real in person insight on what it is like. I can personally say that it is inspiring and helpful. As a high school athlete originally looking to play lacrosse in college, I always was curious about what it was like to balance the work and athlete life. Alexa Hendricks provides her followers with these insights and what struggles she has found and how she solves them.
Brevin Galloway
Galloway is one of the most influential athletes in college athletics with “more than 120,000 followers on TikTok and more than 72,000 followers on Instagram.” While he does post influential content, it is Galloway’s humor and pure honesty that brings him so much following. In one of the games this past season, Clemson Men’s Basketball announced that Galloway wouldn’t be playing due to abdominal pains. Galloway immediately took to social media and explained his actual situation. I won’t share the details in this post but read in the link above if you would like. Galloway’s pure honesty and humor is what fans love about him. With so many restrictions on what college athletes can say, Galloway’s unusual honesty about everything inspires young athletes to own up to what happens and to not be afraid about just telling the truth.
Alex Morgan
Morgan is one of the most inspiring professional female athletes in the game today. Her inspiration on and off the field is what draws so many fans to her social media accounts. Morgan posts a combination of inspirational content as well as showing off her incredible soccer skills. As a very popular female athlete, she uses her social media as a base to inspire young female athletes to continue their game and empower them to speak their voice.
