Alex Wanatick
My name is Alex Wanatick from Randolph, NJ. I am a graduate of Randolph High School, where I discovered my love for graphic design, specifically in the area of sports. I am currently studying at Quinnipiac University, majoring in the 3+1 accelerated program in Graphic and Interactive Design, with a minor in marketing. I graduate this year with my bachelor's degree and will be continuing my education completing my master’s degree in Interactive Media and Communications in my 4th year.
I have had varied work experiences in graphics and creative departments. While at my first internship at Autism Services and Resources Connecticut, I produced graphics to promote their annual Autism walk. These graphics included multiple infographics, as well as advertisements to promote the event. My second internship, at Metabilia, at which I continue to be employed part-time, is a sports memorabilia company that creates both digital memorabilia as NFTs, as well as marketing materials for physical memorabilia. I have had the opportunity to create NFTs for several professional athletes as well as marketing materials to promote the company and its partnerships. In my role at Metabilia, I have had the opportunity to create products using my skills in typography, logo design, as well as social media design and management.
My passion for graphic designing in the area of sports relates back to my own personal experiences. My interest stems from being an avid youth athlete, coach, and presently Quinnipiac club lacrosse athlete. Since I was a young child, I have been engaged in sports in one manner or another, leading to my passion for creating in the sports field. I am presently seeking new internship opportunities related to design in the sports sector.
Currently, at Quinnipiac University, I am the Lead Designer of the Quinnipiac Bobcat Sports Network, our sports media organization on campus. In this role, I plan and design the entire magazine which is issued four times a year. In addition, I am the Broadcast Graphics Developer at Quinnipiac’s TV organization, Q30TV, at which I create all necessary graphics, including motion graphics for shows, as well as thumbnails for the website and YouTube.
Outside of academic clubs, I have been a part of the Quinnipiac Club Men’s Lacrosse team where I was the social media manager last year and am currently the President of the team. My responsibilities include creating weekly practice plans, scheduling games, communicating and advocating for our team with the university, and representing our club at league meetings. As a coach for over 5 years, this has been a great experience being able to manage a team at a higher level.
These varied roles and responsibilities demonstrate that my time management and ability to handle multiple projects or positions set me apart from other employees. I hope you enjoy my work!
